The Three C’s of 2021

Love where you work at Work-Collective

It’s hard to believe we’ve weathered another year and 2022 is just around the corner. Reflecting back on 2021, it can best be summed by these three words — COVID, Cancer and Coworking. The three C’s we call them in our household.

While COVID still impacts our daily lives, we are grateful to be able to provide a space for our members to be their most productive selves. The nature of work has changed, the biggest being a permanent shift to remote work. Previously reserved for tech and niche industries, remote work has become commonplace and the new norm.

A recent Gartner poll showed that 48% of employees will likely work remotely at least part of the time after the COVID-19 pandemic settles down versus 30% before the pandemic. That’s a silver lining for co-working businesses that have been eeking it out for the past 18 months. We are thrilled to see our beautifully designed workspace start to fill with smiling faces again, and welcome this new era!

2021 also brought the dreaded C word to our family as Sara was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. While this was a personal journey that challenged our family and our faith, it also impacted our business as we tried to keep all the balls in the air.

If we didn’t respond to your email in a timely manner – thank you. If you came to visit and found the “We’ve stepped away” sign on the front desk – thank you. If the coffee wasn’t made at 7:30am – thank you. If you signed up for our newsletter list in March and this is the first newsletter you’ve received – thank you.

We have been blessed with a supportive community of caring individuals that pitched in to make the coffee, give lost visitors directions or bring our family home cooked meals during chemotherapy. This is truly the definition of community, and we thank all of you for your support.

What else can we say about coworking… While large outfits, such as WeWork, sank from their own weight during the height of the pandemic, we are grateful to be a lean, mean, family-run machine. We hope to continue to give back to the community, and offer a workspace to inspire, create and collaborate. We invite you to join us on the next stage of this journey, and hope you Love Where You Work.

Warmest Holiday Wishes!
