Shannon Salber is a STR Advocate and Consultant, R. Lee + Co. She knows that explaining her work can sometimes make her the least liked person in the room, and she is comfortable with that. After more than 25 years in hospitality, she has seen firsthand how the short-term rental industry intersects with housing, neighborhoods, and local communities. Rather than brushing those concerns aside, Shannon believes they deserve serious attention and thoughtful solutions.
At the core of R. Lee + Co is a simple but ambitious goal: to help people, homes, and organizations operate better and more responsibly within the STR space. Shannon works across education, operations, and advocacy to raise standards and shift mindsets. She focuses on moving operators away from reactive management and toward proactive, values-driven practices. Shannon often describes her role as part coach and part translator, helping people understand not just what to do, but why it matters.
In addition to consulting and advocacy work, Shannon currently serves as General Manager of Luxury Getaways, a boutique vacation rental company operating in the Mt. Baker area of Washington State. There, she works closely with the owner to elevate operational standards and prepare the business for continued growth and national leadership. This role allows Shannon to apply her philosophy in real time, balancing guest experience, homeowner needs, and community impact.
Shannon also consults with VillaFact, a platform designed for STR investors managing portfolios across multiple markets. VillaFact is currently gathering data from beta testers and preparing for a broader market release, with a focus on transparency around maintenance, safety, and overall home health. On the advocacy front, her work with VRNation centers on upcoming initiatives that equip local affiliates with practical tools, data, and operational frameworks, supported by national resources. The goal is action at the local level, not just talking points.
Outside of work, Shannon’s life follows the seasons. Fall is for coaching soccer, winter is for après, and summer is spent living out of a suitcase for soccer tournaments, with plenty of CU Buffs, Broncos, and March Madness mixed in.
A member of Work-Collective since November 2025, Shannon describes the space as grounding and energizing, exactly the kind of environment where meaningful ideas take shape. A whiteboard is essential, chilled Diet Cokes are a bonus, and conversations are always welcome. If you are curious, skeptical, or just wondering what she actually does, Shannon is always up for a Diet Coke and a good question.
You can usually find her at Work-Collective Midway or on LinkedIn.
