On August 12, we gathered at Work-Collective Northwest Crossing to celebrate Bend artist Rachel Barbera and the opening of her Summer to Fall 2026 exhibition.
The evening allowed our community to slow down, connect, and experience Rachel’s work together. Her collection brings abstract landscapes and vibrant geometric studies into our shared workspace, exploring the balance between spaciousness and structure, transparency and rich texture.
Rachel works primarily with oil paint layered over acrylic washes, incorporating materials such as charcoal, pastel, pigment sticks, and plaster. She also builds and stretches most of her canvases by hand, giving each piece a physical presence that feels both organic and intentional.
Raised near the ocean in San Diego and now based in Bend, Rachel draws inspiration from the high desert and the community of adventurers who call Central Oregon home. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Chicago, Asheville, San Diego, Northern California, and now here at Work-Collective.
We believe the spaces where people work should offer more than function. Art can shift the atmosphere of a room, create moments of reflection, and invite new ways of seeing. Hosting local artists is one of the ways we make Work-Collective feel connected to the larger creative life of Bend.

Rachel’s work is now on display at our Northwest Crossing location as part of our Summer to Fall 2026 exhibition. Members and visitors are invited to spend some time with the collection while it is here.
