“Being part of a space like this has made a huge difference. It’s about having people to chat with, laugh with, and feel connected to throughout the day.”
After nearly two decades in her first role, Kate Lew decided it was time for a bold new chapter. She joined Sanofi as a Site Operations Director, bringing her deep background in process development and regulatory affairs into an exciting new space—manufacturing. The role took her from the familiar to the unknown, relocating to Northern California to help launch a brand-new facility from the ground up. It’s been a rewarding leap, blending her love of systems and structure with the fast pace of a startup environment.
But Kate isn’t just about cleanrooms and compliance—she’s also a dedicated maker. A lifelong creative, she spends her free time immersed in all kinds of crafts: sewing, knitting, embroidery, and even hand-binding journals (yes, each one stitched and glued by hand). Her work is both beautiful and practical, and you’ll often spot it at local makers’ markets around Bend or on the shelves at IsoMiMo and Newport Market.
When she’s not crafting or solving complex operational puzzles, Kate is out enjoying the Bend lifestyle. She’s a year-round trail explorer—logging miles running in the summer and gliding through the snow on skate skis come winter.
Kate joined Work-Collective about two years ago and says the community has been a vital part of her remote work life. “Working from home can be isolating,” she says, “but being part of a space like this has made a huge difference. It’s about having people to chat with, laugh with, and feel connected to throughout the day.”
We’re so lucky to count Kate among our community of makers, thinkers, and doers at Work-Collective!
